One of the most affordable fibres to clean and maintain

Cotton is one of the most commonly used fabrics in the world and has been used for thousands of years. It is cool, soft, comfortable and ‘breathes’ well. Cotton is easy to clean and maintain and is one of the most affordable fibres available. Chances are the majority of the t-shirts in your closet are stamped “100% Cotton.”

Cotton is durable and versatile which is why it’s been a prime choice for many garments and textiles including t-shirts, socks, underwear, towels and bedding. Here are some tips for caring for your cotton clothing and items:

  • You can machine clean and dry cotton, but it might shrink a little bit in the dryer.
  • It is suggested you use a normal wash cycle, regular detergent and a tumble dry on a low setting.
  • White cotton materials can be bleached in hot water.
  • Run cotton towels on an extra rinse cycle to ensure all the detergent is rinsed and your towels come out soft and fluffy.
  • Cotton can be ironed at a high temperature.

Cotton is often blended with other fibres, so make sure you check the label before washing to check for any special instructions.
